Defining My Leadership Style

What's your unique leadership style?

There are hundreds of (often expensive) assessments available to “discover” your leadership style. But my approach is built on the belief that YOU are the expert on you.

I believe that taking the time to capture how you uniquely show up as a leader should be a generative process. Going through each step for yourself:

--> gives your leadership roots

--> brings self-awareness to how you show up as a leader, and

--> makes you more intentional and effective.

This month I led the Compass Club members through my process to define their leadership styles, and I participated in the exercise alongside them. Here's what I came up with:

My Leadership Title:

Heart-centered champion of purposeful growth

What that means to me:

As a leader, I strive to listen to and understand team members, help them get clear on their skills and goals, and align them with opportunities to stretch themselves and grow.

It always comes back to purpose and values—starting with WHY we do what we do and HOW we do it sets us up to strategically determine WHAT we do. There are going to be challenges and opportunities that we don’t see coming, so knowing what matters to us, what talents we have on the team, and the resources we can call upon are essential to seeing our way through with purpose and adaptability.
