What’s it Like to Write & Publish a Book?

with authors Melissa Carvalho and Kyle Paoletta

About the Workshop

In the next Leadership Lab, we'll explore the behind the scenes process of writing and publishing a book. I’ve invited my friends Melissa Carvalho and Kyle Paoletta, who are both in the process of publishing their books, to join me for a Q&A on their experiences with the writing process and the ins and outs of turning that writing into a real, published book.

Melissa is a holistic life purpose & career coach who went the self-publishing route for her recent release: Purpose Forward: The Ultimate Career Starter’s Guide to Finding a Career (and Life) of Purpose. Kyle is an established writer who followed the traditional path to working with a publisher; his book, American Oasis: Finding the Future in the Cities of the Southwest, will be published by Pantheon in January 2025.

In this session, you’ll learn about:

  • What the processes of self-publishing and traditional publishing look like

  • What it’s like to work with supports like a book coach, agent, and editor

  • Melissa’s and Kyle’s takes on making the writing process doable (and fun!)

  • Their lessons learned for someone getting started in this process

Writing a book is something I’ve had my sights on ever since I wrote a story in Ms. Marten’s first grade class about planting a cheerio in my backyard and watching it grow into my favorite substitute teacher, Mrs. Doodie (that was really her name!!).

If you’ve ever been curious about what it would be like to share your written words with the world, join us!

These sessions are not recorded, so register to get the call-in info below and join us live!
